Deadwood
Date: Saturday August 11th-12th
Originally cast as a one day event,
the demand for a two day event was SO overwhelming that Deadwood did
become a two day event! Did I say two??
This was a game for action and role playing so that on Friday the
role playing began and didn’t end until just after the game ended
but before the final score was tallied!
The cast of characters (role players) was second to none. Everyone
played their parts to the hilt and a great time was had by all.
Friday was a gloomy, overcast and rainy day but that didn’t dampen
anyone’s spirits! The event was based on the HBO series of the same
name. Leading the Toliver gang was Frank “the tank” from team
Deltapaintball and the Swearegan gang was lead by Cartman from team
Steele Reserve. The generals had their work cut out for them!
There were several events off game time that could bring a tidy some
of points to a lucky team! The Friday night event was a poker game
which became an intense game like these folks were playing for the
big bucks! The next event, on Saturday night was the talent contest.
During the game several events went on. The Indians (Team Myrmidon)
hosted a pistol duel, while I assisted in a “seedy” horse auction
for Mr. Wolcott. One funny note, almost the entire day was spent
trying to figure out who was the player, playing Jack McCall. Well
Jack turned out to be Jackie and the notorious culprit was none
other than Paintball Girl herself, Dawn Alcot!
The game ended with a final duel for Deadwood. It was the role
players defending and the other two gangs attempting to take
Deadwood as their prize. The prize flag was flying red but by the
time the horn sounded the flag was blue and the town went to Mr.
Toliver.
Strategy Plus hosts many great scenario games and is a great field in
itself.
The owner is for the players and does all that he can to see his
players have a good time. The staff is also great and reffing is
outstanding. Try to get to Strategy Plus for a game, you won’t regret
it!

NJNAM 2007
While the game was a good one, it did not live up to
the hype that preceded
it. The teams designated to be the villagers did not show until late
but
the folks at Tyrell, as usual, kept the game popping.
The Americans were lead by BarneyNY of RT’s raiders and the VC by
Doug
“Radio Man” Decker. Both Generals did an amazing job and controlled
their
players well but the VC once again took the flag of victory. The
game was
called at one point for 3 hours because of the heat and several
cases of
heat exhaustion. While many argued this, player safety is imperative
above
all and it was a good call.
Team Hell Katz was the American negotiation team selected to deal
with the
villagers and Tyrell. Deals were made and there were double crosses
but the
Allies did make out well. It was unfortunate that Captain Wood made
a bad
deal for some drugs and got himself hooked on the white devil. He is
doing
well in recovery.
Overall it was a good game. Many excellent teams representing both
sides
attended and made it a great game. Look for the game to be hosted
once
again at the USANA field in 08.
Until the next game!
